Your Scalp Survival Guide for Humid & Hot Weather

Summer Scalp Struggles Begin

When the scorching sun beats down, high temperatures and UV rays take a toll on your scalp's natural defense mechanism. Add rising humidity to the mix, and the moisture combined with sweat creates a perfect environment for scalp yeast to multiply more than necessary.

This is why many people suffer from itchy scalps only during the spring and summer. This season, particularly during transitional periods, often sees an increase in hormone production, making conditions like seborrheic dermatitis, oily dandruff, and scalp odor much worse.

🌡️ The Summer & Spring (SS) Season Scalp Solution

1. The Two-Step Shampoo Method

Oily scalps are hard to cleanse completely in one wash. 1st Wash (The Pre-Cleanse): Thoroughly rub the shampoo bar directly onto your scalp. Massage your scalp evenly (it may not lather much due to the oil; adding a little water helps create a light foam). Rinse lightly.
2nd Wash (The Deep Cleanse): Apply only half the amount of the shampoo bar you used for the first wash. This time, the foam will build up thick and rich. Leave it on for about 1 minute, then rinse clean. Crucially, use lukewarm water, even on hot days. Cold water may not effectively dissolve the built-up sebum.

2. Shampoo Twice a Day (Morning and Evening)

Do you feel like your scalp gets clammy and starts to smell by evening?

Reduce the interval between washes. Shampoo in the morning, and wash again after you get home from work. This ensures you won't have to worry about the person standing behind you in the elevator during lunchtime or on the subway during your commute.

You might wonder, "Doesn't washing more often increase oil production?" Absolutely not. That misconception is precisely why the 'No-Poo' trend faded away quickly.
