What Stage Is Your Hair At? — Signs of Damage and How to Treat Each Stage
Heat styling, frequent coloring, bleaching, sun exposure… our hair takes a beating every single day. The tricky part is that damage doesn't show up all at once. It progresses gradually, stage by stage, and by the time you notice, things can already be out of hand. Check which stage your hair is at right now.
Stage 1 : Loss of Shine
Your hair may look fine on the surface, but it's lost its former luster and feels oddly dry and dull. This is an early sign that your hair is becoming dehydrated and the cuticles are beginning to lift. Now is the time to get back to basics. After shampooing, use a conditioner to seal the cuticles, and apply a hair oil or serum to combat dryness.
Stage 2 : Frequent Tangles

Split ends are becoming visible, and strands are starting to snap mid-length. The proteins inside the hair shaft have been depleted, leaving it brittle and highly vulnerable to external stress.
